     Peter Pellegrini was born on October 6, 1975, in Banská Bystrica. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica and also from the Faculty of Economics at the Technical University of Košice, specializing in finance, banking, and investing. He is fluent in English, German, and Russian.

     He began his political career in 2002 as an assistant to a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. After the parliamentary elections in 2006, he was elected to the National Council of the Slovak Republic for the first time. He was re-elected to the National Council in the 2010 parliamentary elections and again in the early elections of 2012. Between 2014 and 2016, he served as the State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic. From 2014 to 2015, he briefly held the position of Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic and subsequently, between 2015 and 2016, he became the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for the first time. Following the 2016 parliamentary elections, he held the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic for Investments and Informatization. In 2018, Peter Pellegrini became the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, serving until the end of the term in 2020. After the parliamentary elections, he was re-elected as a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, briefly served as Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, and then as a member of the National Council until the end of the term in 2023. In 2020, Peter Pellegrini also founded his own political party “Hlas-sociálna demokracia” (Voice-Social Democracy). After the 2023 parliamentary elections, he became the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for the second time. He resigned from this position in 2024 after being elected President of the Slovak Republic in the presidential elections.

     Throughout his political career, Peter Pellegrini has been involved in various organizations. In 2012, he became the Digital Leader of the Slovak Republic, advocating for the fulfillment and development of the European Union's digital agenda in Slovakia. In the same year, he also became a member of the Economic and Social Council of the Slovak Republic. Between 2012 and 2014, he chaired several supervisory boards, specifically those of the Social Insurance Agency, the National Nuclear Fund, and the Slovak Consolidation Agency. Subsequently, in 2016, he became the chairman of the Government Council of the Slovak Republic for the Digitization of Public Administration and the Single Digital Market, as well as the chairman of the Government Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation.

     Peter Pellegrini ran for President of the Slovak Republic in 2024 and will assume office after the inauguration of the President of the Slovak Republic on June 15, 2024. Upon taking office as President, Peter Pellegrini will become the first politician in the history of the Slovak Republic to have held the three highest constitutional offices.
