      Following on from the revolution of the 17th November 1989, the socio-political development of the country culminated in 1992 when the Constitutional Law on the Dissolution of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic was passed by the Federal Assembly. Thus the independent Slovak and Czech Republics were established on 1st January 1993.
