In the newly conceived issue series "Museum Treasury Chamber", which should present interesting museum exhibits from several museums in Slovakia, we are introducing, at the start of the new millennium: the precious historical watches and clocks. An exhibit from the collections of the Slovak National Museum in Bratislava - figurative classicists watch, manufactured around the year 1780 by the unknown watchmaker in Slovakia, with pendulum-driven clockwork with hour bells in carved and gilded wood housing, with geometrical dimensions: height 65 cm, width 72 cm, with a hand written remark about the repair in Hlohovec in 1884. The FDC artwork shows the symbols of lapsing time: Sun, Moon, stars on the sky and water. The storm clouds symbolize the beginning of a new era. The author has composed these symbols together with the Slovak countryside into the middle of the clock dial - a symbol of the circulation of time. The seal artwork pictures the clock arms from a cabinet clock stemming from the Banska Štiavnica museum, made in Slovakia around 1770. The symbolism of the time measuring machine is multiplied by the beauty of the exhibit and by admiration of dexterity and invention of the master watchmaker and artist, whereby their work also reminds us of the work of people from the past centuries. The beginning of the new millennium is depicted on the postage stamp artwork as the sun rising from behind the clouds as a symbol of the time circulation, of optimism an of a new life.
