The national anti-drug programme was approved by the Slovak government on August 8th, 1995 and subsequently enacted by the Slovak National Council, the nation's parliament. The preamble reads as follows: The Slovak Republic is aware of the seriousness of the drugs problem in society and of the danger it constitutes particularly for the young generation.
